VOC-ident
The new fast and highly sensitive identification
method of gases and gas mixtures by an array of different gas sensors.
By a statistical pattern recognition following the principal "good-bad"
or "yes-no" the system will be trained to a classification of
gaseous compounds. Organized by a PCA analysis the measurement
readings created by the sensors will be classified in certain cluster
which clearly represent a distinction.
This gas sensors-based technology ensures the routine application throughout
the process and quality control of food as well as the environmental analysis
in real-time and on-line.

Advantages of the VOC-ident Technology:
Objectivity:
It does not know the difference between pleasant and unpleasant odours;
the judgement is unbiased.
Reproducibility:
It is much less subject to fatigue than the human nose. Even after many
days of continuous operation, results remain comparable.
Long
term capability: See above; additionally: long term survey
(e.g. to cope with odour nuisances caused by agricultural or industrial
facilities) are not feasible with human "sniffers". The VOC-ident
systems can sample the air for days or weeks and create an objective log.
Routine
tasks : Well-trained "sniffers" are rare and expensive,
normally too expensive for routine jobs such as quality control of raw
materials. The VOC-ident systems, however, excels at such tasks.
